I want you to know that this endorsement is tenuous and may change.

But these are the following reasons why I am endorsing Rudy for President in 2008:

1. I really want to see how conservative Christians handle it if Giuliani is the Republican nominee! They will either be exposed for the hypocrites they really are, or be forced to think about their choice for the presidency. (A real pain I know!)

2. I really don’t want to see another Republican as president. If you think the world hates us now, just wait and see what happens if we elect another Republican!

3. As of yet, no Democratic candidate has inspired me. Sorry, but being from Louisiana, I’m used to voting for the least offensive candidate instead of the “best” candidate.

No. I won’t vote for Rudy. Yes. I’ll probaby vote for the Democratic candidate. But that doesn’t mean I have to like it!

I know what you’re thinking…14 days after your last “real” post and this is the best you can do? Yep. Right now life’s pretty crappy. Two jobs, having to work Saturdays. It really is the best I can do. The stuff I’m mad about is being covered well by other New Orleans Bloggers.

Went to Super Sunday with the Homans this afternoon. Here are a few pics:

Al Mohler, president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, recently wrote an article, Is Your Baby Gay? What If You Could Know? What If You Could Do Something About It?.

In the article he states the following:

If a biological basis is found, and if a prenatal test is then developed, and if a successful treatment to reverse the sexual orientation to heterosexual is ever developed, we would support its use as we should unapologetically support the use of any appropriate means to avoid sexual temptation and the inevitable effects of sin.

Questions–

Does “we” mean Southern Baptists? Seems kind of presumptuous of Al, but that’s pretty par for the course.

Using science to alleviate sin? This is the same guy that denies evolution. See irony here? Why not rely on God’s grace and power to deliver one from “sin”? Why isn’t that sufficient?

What if we found the “sin” gene? What if we located a religion gene? Should we then tweek it to make all persons Christians?

The church has been wrong about a lot of issues. What if we fix all these babies and we are wrong about homosexuality? OOOPS! What’s really sad is that folks like Mohler don’t see altering someone’s God-given genes as an act of violence. Imperialism has a way of blinding you to your own arrogance and sinfulness. Those native americans didn’t know what was best for them did they Al? Those Iraqis needed liberating too didn’t they?

I’m glad that folks like Mohler aren’t God, even though they think they are. And I’m glad that God isn’t like folks like Mohler!

Gingrich on the 9th ward residents:

“How can you have the mess we have in New Orleans, and not have had deep investigations of the federal government, the state government, the city government, and the failure of citizenship in the Ninth Ward, where 22,000 people were so uneducated and so unprepared, they literally couldn’t get out of the way of a hurricane.“

Hey Newt, 40 to 60% of ninth ward residents did not have automobiles! If they had been better educated maybe they would have realized they needed to buy cars! Great stats both pre and post Katrina are available at: The Greater New Orleans Community Data Center.
